A Little More About Me

An unconventional career, a few unexpected twists, and a whole lot of lived experience.

I've never been particularly good at sticking to just one thing!

Over the years, I've worked as a speech pathologist, senior manager, policy maker, community development worker, marriage celebrant, speaker and advocate. I've also dabbled in podcasting, radio presenting, coffee making and even dance teaching.

It's been an interesting journey, to say the least.

But if there's one thing that connects everything I've done, it's my fascination with people, their stories and the things that make us who we are.

When Life Changes Everything

In 2017, my life took a turn I could never have anticipated when my husband became critically ill.

Almost overnight, I went from being a professional working within the health and disability systems to being an unpaid carer trying to navigate those same systems for my own family.

It was confronting, exhausting, eye-opening and, in many ways, life-changing.

That experience reshaped how I see the world and the work I do. It gave me a much deeper appreciation of the importance of listening, genuine connection, humour, resilience and recognising the strengths people bring to their own lives.

What I Bring to My Work

These days, my work takes a few different forms.

As a marriage celebrant, I get to share in some of life's happiest moments, creating ceremonies that are personal, relaxed and full of meaning (and usually a few laughs!).

As a speech pathologist, I support people with intellectual disability and complex communication needs to express themselves, connect with others and participate more fully in life.

As a speaker and advocate, I draw on my professional background and lived experience to challenge assumptions, spark conversations and encourage more inclusive, compassionate communities.

Different roles, but the same philosophy.

What Matters to Me

I believe everyone has a story worth hearing, that humour can make even the most difficult moments a little easier, and that genuine connection is at the heart of everything.

I don't take myself too seriously, but I take the people I work with and the things that matter to them very seriously.

Whether we're planning your wedding, finding new ways to communicate, or talking about how to make our communities better places, you can expect warmth, honesty, a practical approach and a healthy dose of humour.

Because at the end of the day, it's all about people.
